JIMINY CRICKET is one of two lively puppies found along the roadside in Appomattox County.  They were found by a passerby along the road side. Jiminy Cricket had a large open wound on the side of his head, most likely from a bite. From his foster mom: " I didn't ever see the actual abscess that was on the side of his head, but understand that one of the vets who saw him initially told the Appomattox shelter that it was very bad.   The second vet who  treated him was more optimistic.  He is still a bit sensitive on the left side of his face, but appears to be eating normally now and not favoring it. I have several other dogs, and when they corrected him for jumping on them, or getting too close to their toys, it seems they always bumped him on the tender spot.

He is very excited about food and feeding time. He will not eat the puppy chow I bought (good, expensive Simply Nourish brand!) but loves Nutro adult food so for now he's eating that. He eats a lot, but to encourage him when he is too excited to take time to eat, I've mixed in some higher qualtity canned along with it.  I've been crating him at night and while I am gone, but he also gets lots of outdoor time when the weather is good. He knows how to use the doggy door and will frequently take breaks inside. He is pretty good about housetraining--I've been taking him out regularly and he will go outside no problem. He's a "stretcher" rather than a leg lifter.

He has no manners at all. Rude, rude, rude!  I'm now waiting for him to sit nicely before I put his food bowl down, or put him in the crate prior to eating. All in all, he is delightful and full of promise!"
