Our Community Spay/Neuter Program
Spay and neuter surgeries are scheduled through the Lynchburg Humane Society's South-Central Spay/Neuter Clinic located at 29 Mortimer Drive, Evington, VA. Clients are responsible to arrange their own appointments at the clinic for their pets. To do this, you may visit the clinic online at: lynchburghumane.org/services/spay-neuter-clinic/. Please note: a credit card deposit of $50/dog or $35/cat is required at the time of reservation to hold your appointment and will be applied to the overall cost of the procedure. If you have no credit card, please visit the clinic in person and pay the deposit in cash. Should you miss or cancel your appointment, this deposit is non-refundable.
To help our community provide the best care possible for their beloved pets, we would like to partner with you. FOAC will cover the $55 cost for feral/outdoor community cats, and we will cover up to $55 of the cost for cats owned by Campbell County residents with the deposit being refunded to you by the LHS Clinic at the time of surgery. For dogs, FOAC will cover the costs of surgery above the $50 deposit. To discuss further details and confirm eligibility as a Campbell County resident, please contact FOAC by email at FOACinfo@gmail.com.
Below is further information from LHS regarding their policies:
Please note we have updated some of our procedures and operations at Lynchburg Humane Society’s Spay/ Neuter Clinic:
-
- Scheduling your pet's
procedure with our Clinic will require a non-refundable deposit of $50 per dog and $35 per cat and must be paid at the time of scheduling your appointment. Your deposit will be used toward the total cost of your pet's
appointment
;
however, it will not be refunded if
your appointment is missed or canceled.
Guidelines for Scheduling Cats and TNR
:
-
2. All unfriendly cats MUST be brought
in
a live, humane
trap. This is for your safety as well as the safety of our clinic staff. If you need
a trap, Lynchburg Humane Society as well as other shelters/organizations such as Central Virginia Regional Rescue, Bedford Cares, and Stray Cat TNR offer them for rent/loan.
-
3. Ear Tip: An
“ear-tip” is the safe and humane removal of the top third of an adult cat’s left ear. Ear tips are used as universal recognition that a cat has been sterilized, has a rabies vaccine, and is being cared for by an owner or caretaker. Ear tips
are not
required
. However, we strongly recommend them for cats that go or live outdoors. The price for the ear tip
service is $55*. This cost covers surgery, pain medication, a rabies vaccine, and the ear tip. Ear tips
are included in our TNR package for community cats. Cats that are ear-tipped are kept overnight for monitoring with pick-up scheduled for the next morning, for this reason, we cannot
schedule cats needing ear-tipped on Thursdays.
-
4. We only have availability for 2 walk-in openings (
without previously scheduled appointments) for trapped cats on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. These walk-in appointments are offered on a first come/first serve basis. We may be able to offer more walk-in appointments depending on the number of no-show appointments for that particular day
. We do our best to perform these surgeries, as we know time and energy spent trapping is not effortless.
-
5. If you prefer to plan to trap, you may give us a call and schedule your cats. There will be a deposit. We also have dates that we reserve for larger groups of colony cats, and if you require
those services, please give us a call.
