SAM is in desperate need of a home. We don't make these notes lightly, but we do want our friends to realize that there are some long-timers at the shelter and we are urgently needing to home them. We have spent literally hours getting to know them, socialize them and spend time with them to be able to answer questions and find suitable placement. Sam is a man who needs running room, plain and simple. Being inside seems to make him very nervous, and he slinks around as if exp ecting to be chastised for living. The thing is, Sam has become a gorgeous specimen of a rescue dog after living at the shelter for four weeks. If you are driving down 29 near the shelter, you might hear him baying and letting everyone know he is alive! He is happy when he is eating and when he is chomping down on a peanut-butter filled Kong. But other than that, he needs to be out and patrolling the world. Breed mix? At 76 pounds, we think he is bloodhound/plott hound/Great Dane mix. Really. And he is still underweight, despite gaining weight with us. Want to adopt?
