Pit Bull Terrier (short coat) : : Female : : Adult : : Large
Star has learned the facility routine very easily and now waits patiently first for her breakfast and then for a volunteer to come and take her out walking. She is quite happy to have food on a schedule, and I think she could easily be housetrained if we had regular times for the volunteers to show up daily. Star loves humans of all shapes and sizes, from our animal wardens to young folks. A good scratch about her tail is every bit as pleasing as a scratch behind the ears, in her opinion. I discovered she also loves other dogs, and when we re-entered the kennel run area after a walk, she had to stop at every kennel run to say "hello" to the dogs. Her favorite appeared to be the fifteen-pounder who is her neighbor. She spent a longer time there, doing puppy play-bowiing, and prancing to try to initiate play through the kennel run gate. It was making all the other dogs crazy, so we had to stop, but I was glad to have had the chance to observe her behavior and see just how well-rounded she really is.
She appreciates all we are doing for her, and has really filled out since she is receiving regular meals; she will make your melt when you meet her in person.
Star came to the facility as a stray, with raw spots on her neck from ill fitting collar, or even perhaps from a chain wrapped around her neck in lieu of a collar. (It has healed nicely, and now she has a pretty pink collar.)
Contact the pound to adopt Star, at 434.821-4416.
Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
