Parakeet - Other : : Female : : Adult : : Medium
Charlie is NOT a parakeet, but Petfinder apparently doesn't know about cockatiels, so she is listed as a parakeet! I have no background on Charlie other than that she was abandoned at a wildlife center in Waynesboro; they called a friend of mine to see if she would take him in, and she called me, knowing that I dearly love helping "shelter" birds find new homes. I am thinking that Charlie, who is called a PIED cockatiel due to the color of the feathers, is a female. She just began whistling to me this morning--a wolf whistle that she learned from someone--so I am feeling very flattered to have her notice me today. She likes to sing very loudly at the top of her lungs, too. I have two other cockatiels and they all like to chatter in the mornings, carrying on a nice conversation with the parakeet.
Charlie is handtamed, and I was told by my friend that she is fine being around dogs and cats, and will actually fly to sit on their heads. I have no cats, but my dogs would probably not take it well if Charlie did this to them, as they think birds are meant to be away from the floor. Charlie's adoption fee is $35. She will come fully equipped with her super-nice cage and all the goodies that were brought to me. She is going to be a lovely addition to someone's aviary set up. Please call me directly at 434.851-2598 if you are seriously interested in adopting Charlie.
Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
