Sunshine is our very special dog who came to us when her family moved away and left her behind. Apparently they thought someone would magically come along and care for her, but instead, Sunshine went for months and months without anyone caring for her. She is so lucky that animal control was alerted to her plight, and picked her up! Her skin is leathery, cracked, and bleeding. She was emaciated, and wanted to eat, eat, eat. She is not a pretty girl to look at. Yet something drew me to her and we just had to find help for her. Sunshine now has a fan club of people who care about what happens to her and want her to be healed. We have taken her to the vet and now are giving twice-weekly baths, eye ointment, ear ointment, and antibiotics for her skin. She is gaining weight and confidence. She gazes wistfully at pickup trucks that drive past, so we are sure she has good memories as well as the bad. Sunshine needs a foster home or a rescue ASAP. While we have been caring for her at the county pound, I am continually reminded that her holding time is up and that she needs to get out. Can you help?
