About Cinderella

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White)
Cinderella came in as a stray. She has some serious paw issues which were checked out by the vet and she now has her very own Fairy Godmother that loves her and comes to the shelter to soak her feet and give her medication everyday. Cinderella is about 25 pounds and 7 months old and absolutely precious! UPDATE 10/12/13: Cinderella's fairy godmother became her foster mom today. UPDATE 10/20/13: The first two days of Cinderella coming into our home was heart braking, she just curled up and laid with her blanket. She couldn’t go on walks (without causing conniption fits and her toes bleeding) and she was moping around mostly...then she did start to come out of her shell and I credit our two dogs for bringing her out of it. Now she is more of a dog....dare I say somewhat of a puppy too! We did get a harness and retractable lead to try on Cinderella and that has worked out very well. The first few times when she would see a car she would drop and try and sink into the ground....now she will either sit down or just keep walking and warily look at the car. She is getting into the walking pattern and it will take a few more weeks before she is a good walker. As a Walking Hound, she is big on smelling (or Hoovering) along the ground as we walk and sometimes she is more interested in something on the ground than keeping pace but we are working on that. We have found that she loves to look out windows and check things out, sample butter when it is in range, and is starting to exhibit key dog behavior like begging for people food, and trying to do a drive by when dinner is set at the table. Her feet are getting much, much better. There is fur growing on her feet and the tops of her toes. She still gets her foot baths and treatments but in general they are getting better. UPDATE 11/18/13: Cinderella or Cinder is a mid-sized girl whose feet are doing great. She is a hound in every sense, literally. She does not bark much and she is enjoying the indoor life that she was made to live. She has come out of her shell and is very playful, likes other dogs, and is terrific with children. She is still in the house training process and likes her kennel, however she will always be happy to find a good cushioned couch or chair! She enjoys investigating with her nose and will check things out as much as possible; sometimes she is extremely focused on stuff but is very compliant and friendly. Cinder has a terrific personality and she is so much better since being in a foster home. UPDATE 12/2/13: Cinderella's paws are healed! This dog is in a foster home and not at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. We always begin with an application to adopt, and this will be forwarded to the foster family for review. You can find this on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Specific questions are most easily answered by email, info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org, or by TEXTING one of our volunteers at her personal cell phone, 434.851-2598.
