About Brandy

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Fawn
Brandy was found at the local dump and brought in by a caring person who found her there. She was in bad shape and we immediately got her medical attention. Here is an update on her so far: BRANDY and FOAC thank you for your generosity towards her care. She is safely being monitored for her massive infections at Altavista Animal Hospital. We can count on the folks there to be honest and open about injuries and care, and we greatly appreciate their explanations. Here is what we found out about BRANDY: her wounds are at least a week old. They have already started healing. Because of the infection, no surgery could be done yesterday. The wounds were cleaned and large doses of antibiotic have been started. The vet says her wounds do appear to be from a fight, and because she appears to be a pit bull/bassett mix, she more than likely stood her ground during the scuffle. Even more surprising is that this little chunky-monkey is about a year old! She will remain at the vet hospital through the weekend, and then will need a foster home in which to recover. We'll get more insight into her personality as time passes ... but if a dog can wag her tail when she is full of infection and pain, we imagine she is going to be a real sweetie! UPDATE: UPDATE on BRANDY--we've been waiting on new photos of her since her surgery... but don't have any quite yet. BRANDY had to undergo surgery on Tuesday, to close the wounds behind her ears and on her chest. She also has demodectic mange (non-contagious kind). She is precious, one year old, and a lover girl! Bassett mix, short little legs and big personality! This dog is in a foster home and not at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. We always begin with an application to adopt, and this will be forwarded to the foster family for review. You can find this on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Specific questions are most easily answered by email, info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org, or by TEXTING one of our volunteers at her personal cell phone, 434.851-2598. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
