About Little Joe

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White)
2/22/14 Transferred to Gateway Regional Rescue in NJ. Little Joe is one of our precious little rescue dogs that make us happy we can help! He is a very shy beagle boy who has the shorter bench-leg look that so many people think is totally adorable. He is six to eight years old, only 15 pounds and is having the time of his life living with 20 other dogs in a foster home. Update on Little Joe: Little Joe is in a foster home and is making progress! He is better physically, and his foster mom says he is playing with the other dogs in the household. Joe is still shy and has to be cornered to be picked up. He is neutered, not sure about housetrained, but will always be one of those little hunting beagles who does better with other dogs around. Joe had a rough beginning. He came to us originally because of a bite wound to his rear quarters that just about killed him. We treated him for that, but something caused the mucous membranes of his mouth to completely ulcerate and slough off. Joe suffered through a nightmare of pain and the treatment that went with it. Until he felt tons better, we had NO CLUE he was unsocialized and afraid of being touched. Thank goodness for wonderful foster caregivers! This dog is in a foster home and not at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. We always begin with an application to adopt, and this will be forwarded to the foster family for review. You can find this on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org.
