Marmalade is the sweetest little girl! Her foster mom thinks she is the best thing in the world to come along and we agree! Impeccably housetrained, and loves playing with the cats who pay regular visits to the household. Sadly, Marmalade is heartworm positive so she will have to begin those painful treatments this coming week in order to feel better. UPDATE 3/19/14: Marmalade has turned into our poster child for Heartworm Prevention. Why do we insist that adopters of FOAC dogs use heartworm preventive? Look at this face, and you will know why. . . Marmalade is 6 years old. Her heart is bursting with heartworms, living and procreating within her chest. She underwent the first painful injection of the two day immiticide treatment on Tuesday, and because she became so ill from it, we are not sure we can continue her treatment. Her previous owner has all but killed her by not providing monthly preventive for heartworms. Would you want your dog to die this way? Please, in honor of Marmalade who battles for life, use preventive! This dog is in a foster home and not at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
