Courtesy Post: Meet Tiny! In the words of her current owner: "She's a 55 pound American Staffordshire Terrier. She was tied up in a back yard and left outside in all kinds of weather conditions and only had contact with someone when her "owner" came over to feed her once a day. The vet said she's about 2 years old. She does have Lyme disease but we are treating her for that right now and she tested negative for heart worms. We also have gotten her up to date on all of her shots. She's on antibiotics for a bacterial and yeast infection on her skin. As far as her temperament goes, she is a very sweet dog all she wants is love and attention from us. She gets along great with my 80 pound pitbull but she does seem to want to be the dominant one out of the two. She is also very, very vocal! When we first got her I couldn't tell if she was being aggressive when they were playing, but I've come to learn that she just sounds like a grizzly bear and is not toy, food, or treat aggressive. Both dogs eat next to each other and sometimes out of the same bowl and we never have problems. We also leave her in a crate when we're not home and she does great! She even sleeps in it at night (or somewhere on the floor - she doesn't try and get up on the bed). She does seem to have anxiety about being outside even with our dog. I really think she's terrified that she's going to be left outside permanently again, because she will only use the bathroom if we're out there with her. She does pull when we walk her on a leash but we've been working with her on that and I honesty don't think she's ever been on a walk until we got her. She seems to be weary of people she doesn't know and when we take her for walks, she does bark at people passing by. But, if they come up to pet her, she's fine and not aggressive. She's really a sweet heart and would love to be with someone all day long If she could! UPDATE 5/20/14: Tiny has finished all of her skin medications and she's looking so much better!! She's getting spayed and micro chipped next Tuesday, and yesterday we learned that she is really, really good with kids!!! She's super gentle and really just wants to be played with and loved on. Her personality is really starting to shine now that she's feeling better and she's super sweet, wants to cuddle on the couch with you but would also be great for an active family. We've been taking her on walks and hikes and letting her off leash on our hikes and she doesn't run away. She stays right by our sides the whole time!! She listens very well and seems to really want to please us :) This dog is in her home and not at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. We always begin with an application to adopt, and this will be forwarded to the foster family for review. You can find this on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org.
