SKYE is super sweet and feels good now that she has had plenty to eat! She is a beautiful girl who was in the shelter for quite awhile until a wonderful volunteer took her home to foster. She is about two years old, very friendly, and good with most other dogs. Skye gets along with everyone she meets.
UPDATE from Foster Mom: SKYE jumps on her for attention, and when she gently pushes her off and says, "No, Off!" Skye acts as though she has killed her; she slinks to the ground, urinating submissively as she creeps off, then rolls over on her back for her to give her a tummy rub. It makes us so angry to think of what SKYE was subjected to in her previous life! And it makes us happy that this foster mom is giving her the chance to become confident and happy and hopefully well-adjusted over the next few months.
The policy for adopting an unsterilized pet requires that you live in Campbell County, Lynchburg City, or a county touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and spay/neuter the pet yourself within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age. If you live outside this area, the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home. Kittens or puppies too young for spay/neuter may be adopted through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. We will be happy to help you make arrangements to do this.
This dog is in a foster home and not at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. We always begin with an application to adopt, and this will be forwarded to the foster family for review. You can find this on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org.
Specific questions are most easily answered by email, info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org, or by leaving a voicemail for one of our volunteers at 434-485-6242.

Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
