About Duke

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black
  • Housetrained: Yes
Duke, is about 18 months old and is a Golden retriever mix. He weighs 65 pounds and is fine with kids and other dogs. He loves to chase chickens, which is the reason he is in the pound, so a "chicken-free" home is preferred for this adorable guy. Also, he appears to be too interested in the cats at the shelter so a home without cats would be recommended. He is such an easy dog and we all love him already. The policy for adopting an unsterilized pet requires that you live in Campbell County, Lynchburg City, or a county touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and spay/neuter the pet yourself within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age. If you live outside this area, the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home. Kittens or puppies too young for spay/neuter may be adopted through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. We will be happy to help you make arrangements to do this. For information on adopting this animal who is in care at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility, please call there: 434.821-4416. Hours are from 12 to 5 on weekdays and 11 to 4 on Saturday. Email us at info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org. A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED TO ADOPT.
