About Chance: Fostered

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Fawn
Transferred to rescue! CHANCE thought it would be nice to get out of the Appomattox shelter yesterday (1/28) to go on a great adventure to the vet and then to a foster home. He was SO happy to get a skin scraping! No mites were found in the scrape, so he is being treated for sarcoptic mange. He was given a shot of Ivermectin, and had three shampoos to moisturize his dry skin. He slept well last night! We think Chance is a "pocket Mastiff," about five months old and only 40 pounds. He has double dew-claws on his back feet and webbing between his toes. He is quite the charmer! UPDATE 2/11/15: CHANCE is ready to go per the vet. His is all clear of any skin issues and can now be adopted. He knows all about keeping his bed area free from messes and he is doing well with the other dogs, too. This dog is in a foster home and not at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. We always begin with an application to adopt, and this will be forwarded to the foster family for review. You can find this on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Specific questions are most easily answered by email, info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org, or by leaving a voicemail for one of our volunteers at 434-485-6242. APPLICATIONS ARE REQUIRED TO ADOPT. Go to www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org The policy for adopting an unsterilized pet requires that you live in Campbell County, Lynchburg City, or a county touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and spay/neuter the pet yourself within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age. If you live outside this area, the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home. Kittens or puppies too young for spay/neuter may be adopted through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. We will be happy to help you make arrangements to do this. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
