3/26/15: transferred to LHS. BROOKSIE has been at the shelter far too long. This short and stocky lovergirl eats up attention, loves kids, and does very well with other dogs. To say we adore her is understated ... we eat her up with love, because she has been through a lot and yet still keeps on smiling She came to the shelter as a stray who insisted on heading next door to the elementary school to visit the friendly kids in the cafeteria! She does adore her children who are friends. And she has a special playtime relationship with TOBY, a male bully who also was picked up from the same household for the same reason. They play SO well together! Professional wrestling has nothing on them! We'd sure love to get Brooksie into a forever home. Is it yours? ADOPTION GUIDELINES: Virginia’s Code requires that any unsterilized pets adopted from the Campbell County Animal Shelter may be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and have the pet spayed/neutered within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age. If you live outside this area, the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home. Puppies or kittens in care at the shelter too young to be spayed/neutered before adoption may often be adopted through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. There is an adoption fee required for this process. We ask that you have a veterinarian on record who can verify that your other pets were well-cared for. Pets identified as being “fostered” are available for a fee. Fees range from $50 to $300. Fostered pets are not at the Campbell County Shelter and the animal wardens may not be familiar with those pets. An Adoption Application, available at the Campbell County Shelter, or online at our website www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org, is required prior to adoption. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
