About Brantley: fostered

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black
  • Housetrained: Yes
BRANTLEY is still searching for a home. We want him to have an active home where he can be given lots of attention and little competition with cats or poultry. He was raised with dog-savvy barn cats who tolerate him, but inside cats may be less inclined to have his 80 pounds of nosey GSD in their faces; if they run, he would give chase. He is good around horses, but has not been tested with other livestock. Best fit: Active family, willing to give him time to acclimate to leash walking using gentle positive reinforcement techniques; fenced yard; help him complete his housetraining. He is crate trained, but barks in his crate. He is currently living with another GSD to show him the ropes. Does he sound like a nice fit for YOUR family? He is neutered and current with his vetting and 8 months old. We start with an application! Go to www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Not at the shelter--safe in a home until adoption. ADOPTION GUIDELINES: Virginia’s Code requires that any unsterilized pets adopted from the Campbell County Animal Shelter may be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and have the pet spayed/neutered within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age. If you live outside this area, the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home. Puppies or kittens in care at the shelter too young to be spayed/neutered before adoption may often be adopted through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. There is an adoption fee required for this process. We ask that you have a veterinarian on record who can verify that your other pets were well-cared for. Pets identified as being “fostered” are available for a fee. Fees range from $50 to $300. Fostered pets are not at the Campbell County Shelter and the animal wardens may not be familiar with those pets. An Adoption Application, available at the Campbell County Shelter, or online at our website www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org, is required prior to adoption. Specific questions are most easily answered by email, info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org, or by leaving a voicemail for one of our volunteers at 434-485-6242.
