About Lylah: Fostered

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black
  • Housetrained: Yes
LYLAH (formerly SKITTLES) renamed because she is a “dark beauty,” is thriving in her foster home! LYLAH is a six to seven month old, underweight doberman pinscher mix. She loves, loves, LOVES her foster brother and sisters—she looks to them for guidance and is becoming more confident each day. She is calm, gentle, and quite the couch potato! She is working on crate training, potty training, and leash walking. Hard to believe this is the same scared little girl who was at the shelter. What a wonder love and kindness bring. UPDATE 3/9/15 from her foster mom: In two week's time in her foster home, LYLAH has made strides of improvement! She has learned to trust her foster family & loves the companionship of her canine foster siblings. Lylah now walks comfortably on a leash, is completely crate trained, & enjoys the luxuries of living in a home. Lylah is looking for the right forever home where her lack of trust & socialization will be nurtured. She is also looking for other canine companions. She loves to snuggle and lay on top of her foster siblings! Lylah benefits from older, experienced dogs who will show her the way & be her security blanket. Lylah is a 7 mo. old, 25 lb., doberman mix. Good with dogs, cats, & older children. Crate trained & (almost) house trained. Is LYLAH right for you & your family? ADOPTION GUIDELINES: Virginia’s Code requires that any unsterilized pets adopted from the Campbell County Animal Shelter may be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and have the pet spayed/neutered within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age. If you live outside this area, the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home. Puppies or kittens in care at the shelter too young to be spayed/neutered before adoption may often be adopted through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. There is an adoption fee required for this process. We ask that you have a veterinarian on record who can verify that your other pets were well-cared for. Pets identified as being “fostered” are available for a fee. Fees range from $50 to $300. Fostered pets are not at the Campbell County Shelter and the animal wardens may not be familiar with those pets. An Adoption Application, available at the Campbell County Shelter, or online at our website www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org, is required prior to adoption. Specific questions are most easily answered by email, info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org, or by leaving a voicemail for one of our volunteers at 434-485-6242.
