Codie arrived as a well-socialized stray. He is very polite and so far, not a huge fan of barking or being pushy in any way. He waits patiently for someone to take him out to pee and potty, appears to be very housetrained, and he "sits". He is about two years old, and is very easy to walk and all-around good-natured. Great personality--a "face licker" and a lap-dog wanna-be. He is fine with other dogs. We recently put a cone on him because he was having issues with his undercarriage, and we needed to apply ointment to help him heal. Check out his video. (He is now healed and wishing to be adopted!) ADOPTION GUIDELINES: Virginia’s Code requires that any unsterilized pets adopted from the Campbell County Animal Shelter may be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and have the pet spayed/neutered within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age. If you live outside this area, the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home. Puppies or kittens in care at the shelter too young to be spayed/neutered before adoption may often be adopted through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. There is an adoption fee required for this process. We ask that you have a veterinarian on record who can verify that your other pets were well-cared for. Pets identified as being “fostered” are available for a fee. Fees range from $50 to $300. Fostered pets are not at the Campbell County Shelter and the animal wardens may not be familiar with those pets. An Adoption Application, available at the Campbell County Shelter, or online at our website www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org, is required prior to adoption. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
