URGENT URGENT URGENT!! RUTHIE needs a home! She is our longest-held dog, and is desperate for a great home! Here's what we can tell you about her: she was brought in several weeks ago. When her original owner moved out, he left RUTHIE behind and asked the new tenants to feed her for a few days till he came back. You know where this is going, right? He didn't come back! They cared for Ruthie for several weeks, but she doesn't like ALL other dogs, and is picky with the canines she wants to befriend, so she had to be kept separated from the new family's other dogs. Interestingly, Ruthie likes dogs her own size! She was not threatened by a dog who was her exact size and weight and agreed not to badger RUTHIE with nosing around in her business. If you are a dog who minds your own business and are non-threatening, then you and RUTHIE would be apt to get along very well. We love her because she is playful out in the playyard, and shows us how sweet she can be by fetching her favorite toy and then squeaking it in delight! She is sweet with kids, and great with any adult humans she meets. She is housetrained, And best of all, if your family chooses to adopt RUTHIE--her spay surgery and vaccines AND HW test are all sponsored by FOAC! You basically provide love and a home, and agree to adore her and she can be yours! Now, you know you want her, right? Call the shelter to see about visiting. 434.821.4416

ADOPTION GUIDELINES:
For animals in care at the Campbell County Shelter, the Code of Virginia stipulates that unsterilized pets may be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and have the pet spayed/neutered within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age.
IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OUR LOCAL ADOPTION AREA: you may adopt, but the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home.
For puppies or kittens too young to be spayed/neutered before adoption (under six months of age), you may adopt through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. There is an adoption fee required for this process. We begin with an application. Go to www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org.
We ask that you have a veterinarian on record who can verify that your other pets were/are well-cared for, spay/neutered, and kept updated on their vaccines.
Pets identified as being “fostered” are available for a fee. Fees range from $50 to $300. Fostered pets are not at the Campbell County Shelter and the animal wardens may not be familiar with those pets. Again, we start with an application. Foster parents will contact the applicants about their applications. A meeting would be set up once the application has been received and approved.
Specific questions are most easily answered by email, info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org, or by leaving a voicemail for one of our volunteers at 434-485-6242.
