Cane Corso Mastiff (short coat) : : Female : : Adult : : X-Large
Emaciated, but gaining weight slowly, little by little--this beauty was found by the roadside in rural Campbell County, and quite frankly, we love that she is now safe and transferred to the care of a foster mom nearby. To officially celebrate her transition into FOAC's foster care, we fully vetted her, and microchipped her with a FOAC microchip! Congratulations, skinny minny BlueBelle--welcome to the club! After a full exam at the vet, including bloodwork that indicates she is full-blown heat, heartworm negative, negative for all tick diseases, and with a negative fecal, BlueBelle just needs to rest and gain weight so that she can be spayed. She has had too many litters, from all appearances, and has apparently accepted her fate for several years. Now, however, she gets to be a devoted pet, a companion, a friend to anyone she chooses. And here is the interesting part of what we have already observed: although she was picked up and literally saved by a man, once she hit the shelter system, men became intolerable! It's quite possible that time in her foster home will mellow her, but we will not rush the assessment and will give her time to gain weight and become more comfortable with changes. For now, she is safe, and can spend her days contemplating life as a spoiled house dog. She is housetrained, excellent with women, seems fine with other dogs, and wants to please whoever is near by. What a beauty! We'd like her to weigh at least 70 pounds before she is spayed.
