Rascal – “My Home to Yours” - A Distinguished Gentleman Ready for His Next Chapter

Rascal is a 12-year-old Rat Terrier with a calm soul and a big heart. At 24 lbs, he’s the perfect size for a cozy lap or a relaxing spot on the couch. Rascal is a mellow, affectionate companion who enjoys the quiet life—lounging on furniture, soaking in sunshine, and gently nudging you for ear rubs when he’s feeling especially affectionate.

Rascal has early-stage kidney disease, which is managed through a special diet and vet care with Corban Veterinary Services. While he’s not a fan of prescription kibble, he thrives on fresh, thoughtfully prepared meals that keep him feeling his best. His ideal adopter will be comfortable continuing this routine with simple ingredients like lean meats, broccoli, rice, or salmon.

He’s housetrained, well-behaved, and enjoys a predictable routine—especially when it includes three small meals, leisurely strolls, car rides, and quiet time spent nearby. Rascal also appreciates safe, enclosed outdoor spaces where he can explore off-leash, stretch his legs, and take in the world at his own pace.

Rascal would do best in a calm, pet-free home where he can be the center of attention. He does well with older children who respect his space, and he’s polite around strangers. His preference for peace and personal boundaries makes him a great fit for a household that can provide structure, affection, and understanding.

Why He’s Looking for a New Home:

Rascal’s person is embarking on a life-changing journey to heal after loss and has accepted a job aboard a cruise ship that requires long hours and international travel. While the decision to rehome Rascal is deeply emotional, it’s made with his best interest at heart—to find a loving home that can give him the time, care, and connection he deserves in this stage of life.

Ideal Home for Rascal:

  • No other pets
  • Calm household with respectful older children (if any)
  • Fenced yard preferred but not required
  • Someone home regularly or able to maintain a consistent daily routine
  • Willing to provide a simple, home-prepared diet and vet-recommended care

This pet is not currently housed at the shelter. They are part of our My Home to Yours program, which helps owners find new, loving homes for their pets without placing them in the shelter.
