Molly “ The Unsinkable Molly Brown” has a story to tell, but at her young age, we’re hoping she will not have to remember past trauma and can move on to a happier life. One of our former adopters was on her way to a doctor appointment, and spotted a plastic dog crate in the median of highway 460. On her return from the doctor, she noted the crate was still there, and she felt it was important to check to see if it was occupied. She saw a puppy’s paw poking out the front of the crate gate, and her heart sank. The puppy had been in the crate, laying in water, for at least two days, based on rainfall two days earlier, and the condition of the puppy. At 2-1/2 months old, this pup should never have been away from a warm snuggly home, but was found discarded on the road. God sends the right people at the right time. We are glad that the passerby took time to stop and check it out. The pup was immediately taken to a vet, who was able to work her in for an exam. She was dehydrated, and traumatized, and has been with her rescuer ever since. There were some significant behavior issues initially, but after six weeks, Molly is making the transition to feeling comfortable, and loved, and knows she will never be discarded again. Molly appears to be a dog from the same litter as a couple puppies we took in in February, whose mom was a bluetick coonhound and dad was a Labradoodle. Molly had not had the same love as those puppies; (they have both been adopted into wonderful homes,) but we see good things ahead for Molly as her foster family works with her to help her forget her past. Molly will most likely be a 70 to 80 pound adult, and her foster mom said she has a special affinity for loving humans and would most likely be able to be trained as a therapy dog. Therapy dogs have a special empathy and with what Molly has been through, her foster mom feels like she could reach out to others who have also suffered through trauma. If you are interested in adopting Molly, please start with an application found on our website, and we will share it with her foster mom for her consideration. We are so grateful that this dog was saved! Www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org.
