Imagine pulling up to the soccer field near the shelter at daybreak to take your dogs for a quick walk before the school crowd arrived, and discovering a pup tangled in the netting of a soccer net! This is what a FOAC foster caregiver saw yesterday—and his reaction was the same as anyone concerned about the condition of the dog—save him! The dog was too frightened to be calmed and untangled by one person, so a call was placed to Animal Control. While waiting for response, employees arriving for the day at the school jumped into action and assisted the FOAC volunteer with untangling the pup, warming him up indoors, and making sure he was okay. Animal Control then checked out the pup, determined he was not microchipped, and agreed that a foster home would be a gold idea for him for recovery. He is safe there and will be held for the required time to allow a possible owner to come forward to claim him. He has been named STONE, and already has a fan club of possible adopters from the school! Do you recognize him? He is about six months old, has pretty tri-colored coloring, a longish coat, and a precious personality! Contact the shelter if you know him: 434.821.4416.
