Beautiful HERA needed vet attention, and is now with our friends at Altavista Animal Hospital where she is being examined for bladder stones, crystals, or other cause for the copious amounts of blood in her urine. Housetrained dogs can really suffer when they are confined to a shelter, as many will not relieve themselves unless they are outside on grass. UTI’s develop quickly from stress and lack of routine, but we have not seen one quite this severe. We started her on antibiotics last week, under the direction of the doctor, and the visit this week is for x-rays. We are hoping and praying that continued meds will take care of the problem, and no surgery will be required.
