Seven year old Scout is hunting for a new home. His family is devastated at his need to be rehomed, but we fully support their efforts based on the assessments they have done through a vet as well as a behaviorist. The good news is that Scout will not need to come to the shelter as his family is willing to rehome him from their home directly to another. We have all had dogs that weren’t the best match, and we fully support those who are watching out for the safety of the dog as well as for the families. Let’s tell you a little bit about Scout: “He was approximately 1 year old when we got him which now makes him 7 years old. He loves to sleep in the sun and look out the window. He is a snuggly lap dog and enjoys sleeping under a blanket. He is not child friendly and prefers to be the only dog, or the top dog of the house. (We have an 8 year old female that lets him have his way. So he is spoiled by her for sure.) He eats Cheerios for treats and green beans with his dog food that is chicken free. He jumps high and stands at attention for a Greenie treat once a day for his teeth! He is alert to noises so no surprise visitors get past him!” Scout is neutered, housetrained, current with vaccines, and heartworm tested. Scout needs a home that is quiet, one with less activity due to his reactivity, and most likely an apartment would not be the best since he does bark and react to noises. We are going to say absolutely no small children. Children over the age of 10 who are respectful to pets will most likely be acceptable to Scout. A home where he can be spoiled and not compete with another dog is preferred. If you think you might be a good match, please start with an application from our website at www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. We will share applications with his family.
