Duke settled into the shelter routine easily. This three-year-old lab mix is beautifully housetrained. He would love to live in a home with no children, or kids over the age of ten, who are willing to allow Duke to eat his meals in a crate, and who are willing to consult with a dog trainer if they feel Duke needs attention with manners. (This is because Duke doesn't want anyone disturbing him while he is eating his crunchy food from his dinner bowl.) We did elicit a small growl, indicating he wanted to be left alone while eating, but he did not attempt to bite the Assessa-Hand during our trial, nor did he stop eating. A behaviorist can come up with a plan to help get through this by offering methods of "trading" one thing for another, and teaching Duke that there is no need to growl over his food. Interested?
