Hound / Mixed (medium coat) : : Male : : Senior : : Medium
We do love our seniors, and we also love our hound dogs! Even better, we have a foster family who adores both. Alexander has settled into his new foster home quite easily, enjoying extra meals and extra rations daily. We hope to pump him up and help him become stronger each day that he is in our care. Alexander is probably about 10 years old, and we think he’s had a pretty fulfilling life, although it obviously has not been an easy one. Hunting dogs enjoy their freedom, but unfortunately not all get the care that they need to live long lives without health issues. Alexander has racked up the health issues--he is heartworm positive, as well as positive for two different tickborne diseases. He is already starting the treatment regimen for both heartworm and tick diseases, and has put on about 8 pounds since arriving at his foster hom. Alexander is enjoying being with a pack of other dogs, including females and males, hounds and a beagle included. His foster mom says he is happy and appreciative of everything she gives him. We are looking forward to helping him gain weight, and eventually become totally vetted and ready to go into a new home. If you love seniors, and if you love the challenge of a skinny hound who needs love, you would probably love to meet Alexander!
