Notes from the Foster Mom: Astro has made great progress over the last few days! Being in a house is new to him and he was very stressed and eager to quickly return to the yard. Now he will come in and actually settle with a toy or even take a nap. Huge progress! Age: 12 mos old Temperament: Sweet, Energetic, Easy Going Pros: Great with other dogs and curious about cats. Loves his toys. Housetrained!!! Working on: Walking on a leash and not jumping. - - - UPDATE: Celt is healing but it’s going to be a long process. We visited Urgent Care by Pawprints yesterday, after Celt expelled a massive amount of tapeworms on Thursday, and was still suffering from bloody diarrhea and loss of appetite. He was prescribed three medications plus a bland diet of chicken and rice. Have you ever prepared a special diet for your sick pet? We will do whatever it takes to help this one feel better! Poor Celt! - - - Celt is drinking water, but still not eating. We made an early morning trip to the vet office with a fecal sample, and a stool sample for a parvo test. Both were negative, which was music to our ears when we got the report. It seems that the load of tape worms that Celt expelled yesterday are still upsetting his system, and we truly hope that treatment will eradicate them as quickly as possible. I have never seen such a load of tape worms. He was also puking them up, so it’s no wonder his belly is upset. Since tapeworms are associated with flea infestation’s in dogs, as well as cats, we checked him carefully for fleas and found none. We now assume that whoever found him as a “stray” bathed him first prior to bringing him to the shelter.
