Say hello to Cooper, whose family is looking to rehome him after discovering he is not completely comfortable around toddlers, and does exhibit high prey drive around small pets. Here is what his family says: “Cooper is an almost 2-year-old yellow lab and chow mix; he is deeply loyal and very well trained and does great with other dogs...he often spends time at doggy daycare and has always gotten great reports. His issue is he is anxious and can be reactive towards children. We have a 7 year old and an 11 month old who is about to start walking. Cooper has never bitten but does snap/nip and often lifts his lip. He displays food aggression and when anxious he displays cage aggression. He is anxious around new men but tends to quickly warm up. I don't think he would do well on a farm or a home with cats. He is an amazing guard dog, alerting us to strangers and vehicles approaching.” if you are an adults only or teenagers and adults only home, have other dogs, and are willing to work through Cooper‘s anxiety issues, he may be the one for you. Apply to adopt here: www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Cooper is not at the shelter and is still at his family's home where they are managing him and his behavior while they look for his next home.
