UPDATE: “My name is Trudy! I am about three months old, have been spayed, and even though I have only one eye, that is all I need in order to get around just fine! I would love to come and live with you, but you must be prepared for an active feisty little girl who loves to run, play, and roughhouse with other cats. Are you ready for me? You can apply to adopt me by going here: www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org.” - - - Sweet Trudy is back at her foster home after an overnight stay at the vet. Trudy is underweight, and needs to get over an upper respiratory infection. She was tested for FelvFIV, and is negative for both. She is adapting to her loss of vision, and moves slowly as she learns about her surroundings. For safety, she is in a large dog crate so she can learn about household sounds, and be safe while she explores. We will gradually enlarge her space as she gets bigger and more confident. Although it might not be the most wonderful thing to view, her ruptured eyeball does not appear to be causing her any pain or discomfort. Best guess is she is 8 to 10 weeks old. surgery will not be done until she is older and we maybe even wait until she is spayed. - - - This little gal is TRUDY. She was found by the roadside on Peerman School Road on Sunday evening by folks out dog walking. Trudy was emaciated, with a low body temperature, and her left eye was damaged. Once she was warmed up and given sub-q fluids at the shelter, she headed to a foster home, where she is eating well and getting antibiotics. Her left eye is ruptured, and we have discovered she has no vision in her right eye either. but this is the most loving kitten I have ever met! She looks forward to visits, enjoys her hand feeding since she can’t seem to find the bowl, and has learned to use her litter box. She has places to go once she is healed! She’s going today for an assessment from the veterinarians at Altavista Animal Hospital. Fingers crossed for a great report!
