Three months have passed since GUS’ hip surgery, and he would love to find a forever home! During his physical therapy, Gus has been adjusting to a new living situation, and going through some painful recovery from hip surgery. He wishes he could play with other dogs, but he still can’t overdo. We were told that it might possibly be three to six months until he is fully recovered. Gus may be a shepherd/Rottweiler/hound mix. He is about nine months old and has the promise of a wonderful life ahead of him, once he gets through his recovery. If you have had experience with rehabbing and are willing to follow guidelines for helping Gus work through some food-guarding, you might be the perfect home for Gus. Gus’ Original post: Our sweet GusGus is an amazing, happy boy, active despite the fact that he limps noticeably, likely due to trauma caused by an accident of some sort. His right rear leg sustained a cruciate injury that has now healed, and his left leg has been injured, but not nearly as bad. He does not appear to be in pain, but does show lack of musculature in his upper legs. He moves around fine now, and maybe in the future, surgery will be required, but vet does not feel it is needed quite yet. GusGus is good with other dogs, and likes hanging out with humans. We understand he liked sunning himself in the roadways at his previous home in the country. He's trying to be housetrained, and trying to be as social as we allow while he recovers from his neuter.
