Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) : : Female : : Adult : : Medium
My name is Ellie! When I first arrived at the shelter, (I was found on the road), the shelter staff thought I was a puppy because I was so tiny and emaciated. However, after they checked my teeth, and realized I was not eating puppy chow, they realized I am an adult dog. They think that I was kept confined to a tiny crate, and not fed nutritious food when I was growing up, so I am smaller than most pitties. The shelter volunteers call me a pocket pit, because I am just the right size to fit on a lap, and if I tried really hard, I suppose I could fit into your pocket! I haven’t been able to tell them exactly what I went through growing up, but I am enjoying every minute of the time I have when I get to go out to the play yard and run! I love attention and wait patiently for my turn to go outside to play! And when the volunteers let me lick their faces and give them kisses, that’s even better. Sometimes it’s hard for me to make new friends with the dogs around me. My hackles go up, and I act like I’m going to jump on them. But it’s only because I’ve never had a chance to interact much with the other dogs at my home, and I’m not really sure the best way to do it. I like it when the humans help me figure things out! I am spayed. I have had my vaccines. I did not have Heartworms and we are celebrating that! I do have a microchip so that I won’t ever get lost again. If you are interested in adopting me, please start with an application so that I can get out of the shelter and find a home with someone who will love me!
