Beagle / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat) : : Female : : Adult : : Medium Learn more about the Beagle. Learn more about the Labrador Retriever.
Ava came into our care already spayed. She is one of the happiest little ones you can imagine! Ava is beautifully housetrained, and active for her age. She is wiggly and happy, and loves humans! A beagle mix, she enjoys sniffing and exploring, and then settles in nicely. She did test positive for heartworms, but is being treated for that infection already, via a month-long course of doxycycline antibiotics. In a couple weeks, she will get a more intense course of treatment, which is a drug called immiticide. It is injected into her spinal area, and will kill off any adult heartworms, allowing them to be absorbed into her bloodstream. It's not an easy treatment, but is the fastest one available and the one we often go to once we know dogs have a home, or a foster placement, available in which to recover. We'd love for sweet Ava to find a home while she undergoes treatment. She has lived with other dogs, and appears to be happy around cats.
