UPDATE: NO BOYS ALLOWED! Josie Bo is all about girls—human girls, that is! She wants a home where she doesn’t have to deal with the opposite sex, where she can live with human females, and where men are off-limits! We know that such a home exists—and hope we can find it soon. Josie Bo would be happy living as an only dog, although she can live with another dog as long as introductions are done slowly. Josie Bo’s history with us goes back many months, when she was found as an emaciated, hairless stray. We worked hard to help her overcome her various infections, and help her develop confidence. It is obvious she has not had much experience with other dogs, but we do see the herding breed tendencies come out when she plays with other dogs! This little girl was adopted out by our friends at another shelter, but was returned because she had trouble accepting human males. We are going to work with that! We are making her interactions with men positive by giving her treats when she is around them, but we are also understanding that it’s possible she will never be able to be comfortable with them. So let’s go with girls only! No boys allowed! Living with a family with only women, and no other dogs would be awesome! Josie is house trained, and appreciates a nice soft bed. You can watch a video of her playing with another dog in the comments! We think she’s about six years old, and weighs about 40 pounds. To apply to adopt her, start with an application found on our website at www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org.human UPDATE: BoPeep was invited on an Adventure Dog Outing and she was ready for anything today! She got a trip to Petsmart and then spent the afternoon with her hostesses exploring the fenced yard, and enjoying a cookout! She came back at 4:30, with a full tummy and a happy smile! - - -

Highly food-motivated, "will work for treats!" BoPeep is ready to hit the road, and get out of the shelter! She is a solid-bodied little gal who has come SO far in her time with us, but now wants to show off her abilities to sniff out new and exciting smells, and maybe try agility!  She is smart as a whip, and loves having a chance to do some clicker training with the volunteers at the shelter.  At forty pounds, she is an intense little girl who knows what she wants and who she wants to be with. We call her "dog selective," because although she is usually not picky about who she meets, she does need appropriate introductions before taking on all new dog friends full-force. Beautifully housetrained, she has not messed in her kennel since arriving at the shelter. That's pretty amazing!  If you are looking for adorable and fun, with intensity thrown in, look no further! This gal is the bomb! Not good with cats, and in fact, that's why she was brought in to the shelter--as a stray, she was chasing the neighborhood cats, and needed some corraling. That was fine, because it gave us a chance to address her skin infection and the fact that she needed extra-nutritious food! Doesn't she look great?  Because she is intense and loves treats, we think older kids will be a better choice (she can be mouthy) and we know she is NOT fond of felines.
