When a nine year old dog comes to the shelter, signed over by her family when her young owner passes away, a part of you grieves along with the dog. And then you get a volunteer who fills out an application to foster and says, “I want to take this one home with me!” Chloe was the lucky one chosen, and we are happy to share her progress. We were hoping she could take some of her weight off, but despite a limited diet, she is gaining. Today she went to the doctor and it was found she has a UTI, so that is being treated in addition to her tick diseases. Poor Chloe! At some point the vet would like to test her for Cushing’s disease. We don’t know much about it and don’t know how manageable it is and don’t know if anyone will even want to adopt a dog knowing that the prognosis is medication for the rest of its life. But we are willing to work with the foster and see what we can discover. A huge thanks to the foster family for putting in the time, effort, and loving this beautiful girl for who she is.
