Not every dog gets the opportunity to get out of the shelter and into a foster home to recover from the trauma of being dragged to a new place filled with raucous barking and strange smells. One year old Winnie was lucky—When her foster mom spotted her she knew Winnie was going to shut down and not last long at the shelter. Turns out that Winnie adores teenagers, both girls and boys, and feel safe when she’s around them. She is nervous and scared when she sees the male head of the household approach her if he is wearing a uniform, but accepts him in his regular garb. This foster family is willing to work with Winnie to figure it all out. Our goal is not to push Winnie too far or too fast, because the last thing we want is for her to nip or bite at someone because she is afraid. A huge thanks to our volunteer, a foster mom extraordinaire, for handling the challenge we call WINNIE!
