Poppy is looking for a new home, after slightly over a year in her current one. Upcoming changes in her current guardian's schedule conflict with Poppy's needs, necessitating rehoming in the next few months. Her family is devastated about rehoming, but want to do the right thing for her. Poppy is a sweet, beautiful dog, whose early life remains a mystery. She came to FOAC as a puppy with a broken leg, and spent months in foster care while she healed. In her current home, first as a foster and then as an adoptee since February, 2020, she has made huge strides in her confidence and training. She is beautifully housetrained, no longer chews on everything she sees, is comfortable with cats, and is very happy to make new dog friends. She remains timid, nervous around new situations and people, yet willing to confront her fears. With time and patience she will grow to trust. She loves to snuggle next to the people she trusts, especially burrowed under blankets. Once she has formed a bond, Poppy likes to be near her people at all times. Poppy would do especially if she can live with another friendly and relaxed dog, and she likes cats. She gains confidence from being with a dog companion, making a home with at least one other dog a particularly good option for her. Poppy does not enjoy being in her crate, and is currently only accustomed to crating for short periods of time when her guardian is not home. Because of her timid nature, Poppy will do best in a relaxed home, and she has not been socialized with children. She may be ok with older children who are experienced around shy dogs, but is not recommended for families with young, active, children.  Poppy LOVES time outside, hikes, and long walks. She loves to play "tag" with her person.  She appears to be beagle/hound mix, and full grown just under 30 lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vetting. With consistency, love, and patience Poppy will do well in her new home and continue to grow in confidence.
