Best guess is that this pup is a shepherd mix, but she was a match to the 10 pound chihuahua mix who was just adopted, so it's really hard to say! Tipi got her name from the tiny little white tip on her tail. Despite being passed around from family to family before coming to us, she is not nervous or frightened, and goes with the flow. She is working hard to be housetrained, is fabulous with other dogs, and is learning to respect the cats in her foster home. She is a smart little cookie, and is the dream puppy for those of us who love shepherd mix puppies, as she is quick to pick up treat-based training tips. She learned "sit" and "wait" easily and decided that "down" was not exciting enough to pursue. She is available only to residents of Campbell County, or counties adjacent to Campbell, for the time being, as we want to keep her close in order to follow up on her spay at the age of six months. We are looking for a home with children over the age of five, (puppies have very sharp teeth and toenails!) and a physically fenced yard (no invisible fences.) Tipi wants very much to continue her family-dog training so she can be a good friend and a polite citizen when she is older. Please keep this in mind as you consider adoption! If you do not have a trainer, we would be happy to recommend trainers in our local area who use positive reinforcement techniques to build dog-human relationships.
