Plott Hound (short coat) : : Male : : Adult : : Large Learn more about the Plott Hound.
TRIPP: a one-year-old plott hound, unable to hunt bear because he has a bit of a disability for an extremely active hunting breed. Both of his front legs were apparently broken when he jumped out of a truck. Had he been taken to a veterinarian and been kept inactive with splints on the breaks, his legs probably would have healed correctly. Instead, they are both crooked, and when he runs, he runs much as we imagine a seal would run with flippers! fortunately, his attitude has not diminished just because he has a slight inability to run out and out, and he loves playing with other dogs and being active. He is also extremely vocal. A shelter is not a place for a dog who wants to hunt and be active, and tell everyone what his job is supposed to be. He loves going out with our volunteers to play in the play area, and he mourns when it is not his turn and he sees another dog out there instead of him. He does love running with the other dogs, and will probably enjoy hunting activities although we would never subject him to bear hunting, which can be a dangerous sport. So what’s the answer for him? We don’t feel he’s a pet for just anybody because of his extremely loud barking. Do you live in a rural area, and love hearing the baying of hounds? Perhaps you need Tripp in your life, or you know someone else who does. We need your help in finding him a home or a rescue, a place where he can vocalize all he wants, hang out with other fun dogs, and live his best life. At one year old, we feel that he has lots of love to give to humans as well as other dogs. Let us know if you can help! friendsofcampbellcounty.org, under the animals heading, is where you would find an application to adopt.
