DUKE was signed over to the shelter before Easter. He is two years old, and is likely a beagle/bully mix, weighs about thirty pounds, and has played nicely with other dogs, though he may be dog selective if the others are unneutered males. We have not had a chance to test him with small children, but based on his experiences with older children, we feel kids under the age of ten would probably not be the best match for him. He needs a family who is dog savvy and can recognize that his growling or grumbling is just because he is not sure what is going to happen to him. He needs lots of handling, being touched nicely by a kind human, and he needs training. Best match for him as an active older experienced adoptive family, no small children, perhaps one other dog savvy neutered or spayed dog, and a fenced yard! He is housetrained! (He was used to running rampant in his subdivision before he was brought in to us.) A physical fence would be awesome for him and we will not consider invisible fencing.
