Hazel! Three to four years old. Housetrained! Hazel hates being confined and has separation anxiety. We feel that with medication, Hazel could manage to make an adjustment to a new home with a family willing to spend time with her, work on a medication/behavioral consult with a trainer, and commit to helping her. Hazel can jump a 4 foot fence at a single bound! She may be absolutely fine in a 6 foot enclosure, but we know that in a crate situation, she will be absolutely crazy. As long as Hazel has someone with her, she is the biggest doll baby you can imagine. She loves to be on your lap, go for great adventures at a hardware store where pets are permitted, and she loves to go for hikes. While we have not tried her with children (because we have none to test on,) we feel she would be great with kids 5 to 6 years old and older. She has shown that she has excellent social skills with other dogs with which she has played. At the shelter she has enjoyed time with male dogs, but she was introduced to females as well and did fine. No cats please! - - - Hazel enjoyed a fun three-day outing with a family who had hoped it would work out for an extended foster situation, but it was not meant to be. The good news is we know a lot more about Hazel’s personality, and are hoping we can find the perfect match for her! Here’s what her host mom tells us: “Hazel is a super sweet cuddlebug looking for her person and her forever home. She sits to be leashed, loves to explore outside, and really enjoys going for car rides. She has an incredible sense for problem solving, enjoys toys that challenge her, and loves to be loved on. Hazel is looking for a constant companion and she is ready to show her appreciation by loving them forever.” If you think you can be that constant companion, please start with an application found here: Friendsofcampbellcounty.org, under the animals heading. To adopt, please contact us by filling out an application so we can forward it to her foster mom for consideration.
