Autumn is a one-year-old mixed breed, 45pounds, housetrained, crate trained. She lives with kids, but she can be nippy. She is not super socialized, but is learning to be a good girl. Autumn was rescued from the side of the road where she had been living with a pack of dogs left to their own devices  in a rural area for several weeks. Although Autumn lives with cats,  she does chase them when given the opportunity. Recommended: older children over the age of 10 or 12 who are dog savvy and can handle a dog that might be nippy. Must haves: a fenced yard and another nice dog! Autumn will remain in her foster home until she is adopted. Start with an application found here: Friendsofcampbellcounty.org.

Autumn made her way into a foster home after living on her own on the streets for months, she had no idea she would be treated like a queen, and allowed to be part of a human family! The thought of being someone's pet, treated to vet care, good food, and attention from humans, was the last thing she expected. No more would there be angry shouts to leave, or rocks thrown to keep her away from the back door, or days and nights of hunger, thirst, and cold. She was now part of a pack, both human and canine, and was going to become integrated, even if it was not the first thing on her mind. Her foster mom and family have worked hard to get her to understand that in addition to the perks of being a family member, there are also expectations. Included in those are socialization, leash walking, and being kind.  Autumn has done well with socialization, and is working hard on being kind to the other dogs and cats in the household. As she has become more confident, she has also shown her not so kind side to them. She plays very roughly with the indoor cats, and if one happens to be outside, she will give chase and want to take them on. As far as dogs.. while she needs another dog to be her leader, it will need to be a dog her own size, 45 pounds, or even larger. Leashwalking is still a challenge for her, and one she will probably be unhappy about working on. Stubbornness will get her nowhere, however, as her foster family is just as determined that she figure it out. While she is fine with the resident kids, all in their preteens and teens, other kids that come to visit are not easily accepted.  If you are looking for a challenge and a project, will work with positive reinforcement, are a patient person, have a physically fenced yard,  have unlimited time, and a quiet household, beautiful Autumn is one for you! However, we want you to understand... she is a project!
