A work in progress--and a more thankful boy you would never find! Thanks to Lisa who spotted JOE COCKER in the middle of the road and took time from her schedule to deliver him to the shelter. Joe is one of our very special dogs: Like many other shelter dogs in our area, h
e is heartworm positive, and is also suffering from a tick-borne disease, Joe is neutered, which is a huge plus for him! He does have severe dental disease, and is missing several teeth. He has an eye which may need removal at some point, but he is alert and doesn't appear to miss much going on around him. Luckily, Joe's bloodwork is not too bad. JOE loves kids, and is happy to greet everyone he meets. His current foster home has a cat and he is fine with the cat. He is housetrained and crate trained. He is a good weight at 28 pounds and looks great, considering all he has been through. Whew! A litany of problems, outweighed by the good stuff--don't let it overwhelm you if you love cocker spaniels. One step at a time is how we take it! We are starting with three weeks of doxycycline for his tick disease and then will move to the heartworm treatment.
